Cancer Awareness in rural communities

With the split of Kibaale district from Kagadi district, The health in charge Mugarama health center III notified us that out
of the 7 in 100 new migrant women screened at the facility are positive either
for breast cancer or cervical cancer. This was a high rate that required action

Major achievement

,i) A total of 100 community cancer ambassadors have been trained to sensitize their peers on breast and cervical cancer prevention and care. 

ii) Community radio talk shows have been conducted on breast and cervical cancer to create community awareness on breast and cervical cancer prevention, treatment and care services. 

iii) Changed attitudes on myths and misconceptions on breast and cervical cancer by trained women and girls and community women attending the health camps
