We are seeking a highly competent and ethical Senior Finance Officer to strengthen our financial management systems and support the growing portfolio of programs and grants.
Position Summary
The Senior Finance Officer will be responsible for overseeing the financial management of the organization, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, financial regulations, and internal policies. The role will support budgeting, financial reporting, grant management, and financial accountability across all projects.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Manage the organization’s accounting systems and financial records.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure proper bookkeeping and documentation of all financial transactions.
- Maintain accurate financial records in accounting software.
Grant and Project Finance Management
- Prepare donor financial reports in accordance with grant agreements.
- Support project teams in budget planning and monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with donor financial guidelines and reporting requirements.
- Monitor project expenditures and advise on budget utilization.
Budgeting and Planning
- Develop organizational and project budgets.
- Conduct budget tracking and variance analysis.
- Provide financial advice to management to support strategic decisions.
Compliance and Internal Controls
- Ensure adherence to financial policies, procurement guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Strengthen internal financial controls and accountability systems.
- Coordinate internal and external audits.
Payroll and Payments
- Manage payroll and statutory deductions.
- Process payments and ensure proper authorization procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional Certification
- Minimum of CPA Level II
- Progress toward CPA Level III or full CPA qualification is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in finance or accounting, preferably within NGOs or development organizations.
- Experience managing donor-funded projects and grants is highly desirable.
Skills
