Rural Smiles Foundation Joins the Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW)

Strengthening Global Solidarity for Rural Women’s Empowerment

We are pleased to officially announce that Rural Smiles Foundation is now a proud member of the Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) - a global network committed to uplifting rural women and addressing key issues affecting their lives. Our membership was confirmed on 8 April 2025, and we are listed under Membership Number 96513.

Who is ACWW?

The Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) is an international charitable organization founded in 1933 to bring together rural women’s groups from across the globe. ACWW supports grassroots development projects, advances gender equality, and promotes women’s rights through a global network of member societies in over 80 countries. Its work focuses on:

• Empowering rural women

• Improving health and nutrition

• Advocating for access to education

• Enhancing agricultural practices

• Strengthening women’s voices in global development

ACWW maintains consultative status with the United Nations and actively participates in international forums to represent the interests and needs of rural women.

Why This Membership Matters

Joining ACWW is a significant milestone for the Rural Smiles Foundation. It not only affirms our commitment to advancing the rights and well-being of rural communities but also positions us as an active player in the global movement for social justice, gender equality, and rural development.

Through this membership, we aim to:

• Amplify the voices of women and marginalized communities in Kibaale District and beyond.

• Exchange knowledge and best practices with organizations from different parts of the world tackling similar challenges.

• Access technical resources, training, and international advocacy platforms that can strengthen our work in areas like economic empowerment, digital inclusion, and health rights.

• Participate in ACWW campaigns and global advocacy efforts, such as lobbying for gender-inclusive policies and championing sustainable development goals (SDGs) that prioritize rural populations.

A New Chapter for Rural Women in Uganda

This membership enables Rural Smiles Foundation to deepen our engagement with rural women — helping them gain the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to thrive in today’s world. It is a direct reflection of our core belief: that every rural woman and girl deserves dignity, opportunity, and equal rights.

As part of this global network, we pledge to uphold the shared values of solidarity, empowerment, and inclusivity, and to collaborate with ACWW and fellow member organizations in shaping a future where no woman is left behind.
